Following Wassim Jabi (2013)* it can be said there is a collection of basic formal parametric patterns from which many designs can be evoloved.

This seems to be a good tool to inteprete the multiplicity of existing designs, as well as a good design tool.

Jabi's scripts are presented in 3ds-Max scripting language (+ some of them in Processing). Slowly but surely i will try to study these patterns and generate Grasshopper, Processing and Python scripts for them to be used in Rhinoceros 5.

Following Wassim Jabi (2013)* it can be said there is a collection of basic formal parametric patterns from which many designs can be evoloved. This systematization seems to be a good tool to inteprete the multiplicity of existing designs, as well as a good design tool.

Jabi's scripts are presented in 3ds-Max scripting language (+ some of them in Processing). Slowly but surely i will try to study these patterns and generate Grasshopper, Processing and Python scripts for them to be used in Rhinoceros 5.

Jabi's patterns are the following:

  • Controller
  • Force Field
  • Repetition
  • Tiling
  • Recursion
  • (Srf) Subdivision
  • Packing
  • Weaving
  • Branching

Benjamin Aranda and Chris Lasch, some time earlier (2005)*, - quoted by Jabi -, proposed another collection of formal parametric patterns, derived from their own work which are as follows:

  • Spiraling
  • Packing
  • Weaving
  • Blending
  • Cracking
  • Flocking
  • Tiling
